Mr. Toney is the Manager of the Firm’s Business Valuation Department. He specializes in business valuations for estate and gift tax purposes, mergers and acquisitions, dissident stockholder disputes, and marital dissolutions. Industries in which Mr. Toney has recent experience include: high-technology, construction, transportation, service, real estate, and agri-business.
Mr. Toney is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) as designated by the American Society of Appraisers. He has been a presenter of continuing education for attorneys, planned giving officers, and CPAs and has lectured on valuation topics at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and the University of California, Davis King Hall School of Law.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Toney worked as an investment analyst for Merrill Lynch and for a high-technology Internet company in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Davis and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Toney currently serves on the Board of Directors, and is Past President, for Fairytale Town, the beloved non-profit corporation which promotes the imagination, creativity, and education of children in the greater Sacramento Region. For many years, he served on the Board of Directors, and was President, of the Sacramento Estate Planning Council and served on the Planning Committee for the Sacramento Community Foundation’s Philanthropic Advisors, Forum. He also spends countless hours coaching youth sports, including basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
